2015 The 1st Edinburgh Festival Fringe – Chinese Arts & Culture Festival

It was perfectly successful performances. According to the festival box office statistics, the two
day Chinese arts and culture festival attracted more than 1,500 spectators, six Medias, more
than 50 people team workers; specially invited VIP guests, on the stage at the Edinburgh
Festival of 2015, the shows achieved great success.

Opening Ceremony , VIP Speech and Media interviews:
On 21 August, 2015, organizer Scotland China Chamber of Commerce (SCCC), in association
with sponsors of the Confucius Institute at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and Visit
Scotland to celebrate the 1st Chinese Arts and Culture Festival in Edinburgh.

Ms Jie Song (the Chairman of SCCC), with VIPs Mr Huazhong Zhang (Deputy Consul
EDINBURGH), Ms Helen Moonie (Provost of South Ayrshire in Scotland),  Ms Manuela
Calchini (General Manager of Visit Scotland), and Ms Frances Christensen
(Edinburgh Confucius Institute), attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Performing Group 1: Sichuan Opera Theater

Sichuan Opera Theater of Sichuan Province, established in 1960, had the classic opera show
Musk Changqing. Yi Dan Da, Bashan Scholar which won twice the “National Stage Art Quality
Program. Top 10 Quality Plays Prize”. Culture Prize from the Ministry of Culture.
 “Five Ones Program-Excellent Work Prize from the Publicity Department, CCCPC, etc. It is the
base for creation and performance of high quality national stage arts determined by the ministry
 of Culture and the Ministry of Finance, the important base to prosper Sichuan Opera, the
essential unit to inherit the national intangible cultural heritage, and the national first-grade theater.
Sichuan Opera Theater of Sichuan Province contributes a lot to cultural exchange with foreign
countries, with countries its performance troupes have visited including America, France, UK,
Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Canada, South Korea, India, Japan, Singapore,
Hong Kong, China, Macao China, etc. They are warmly accepted and highly spoken of by
people in those countries and regions.

Performing Group 2: Beijing No 12 High School (Junior Tatto+ Chorus)

Beijing No. 12 High School (BJ12) was first established in 1934 near the Marco Polo Bridge
and was named Peking Normal School for accelerated learning. In the July 7 incident of 1937,
which was during the Japanese Aggression War, the school was ruined. It was later relocated
to Fengtai Town. In 1951, school was renamed to Beijing No. 12 High School. In 1978, BJ 12
was honored by the municipal education authority as one of the leading high schools in Beijing.
In 2001, BJ12 was relocated again to the present location and acknowledge as model high school.
Student Xinyu Chen received "Twelfth mayor of Beijing Youth Science and Technology
Innovation Award." School Symphonic Band received two-gold in the national competition.
Beijing Golden Sail Orchestra as the sole representative to participate in the Fourth
National Folk Orchestra and won the national first prize in the first place. Sports team won
 gold and silver prizes in various competitions.
The Orchestra in Beijing No 12 High School has been invited by Australian Culture
Association of Australia to participate the event of "Meet in China" cultural exchange
activities in Australia which was organized by UNESCO Association, and sponsored by
Jiangsu TV, the Central Peoples Broadcasting Station on January 26, 2011.
Students of Orchestra presented their own unique way, not only showing the style of
Chinese high school students, and enhance the friendship between the people of two
countries, but also won praise for the school.

Special arrangement: Street Performance on Royal Mile of Edinburgh

The young artists of Junior Tatto and Choir from Beijing No. 12 High School arranged
two street performances in Edinburgh City Center. On festival outdoor stage performances,
the children have brought spectacular art performance with combination the elements of
Eastern and Western style for all audience, tourists, and local residents. Their performance
has attracted more than hundred audiences to participate, to take photos and to film.
Special events for Chinese arts and cultural provided an opportunity for the
audiences a special afternoon. There were a large number of visitors standing
in the queue for tasting Kung-Fu tea. Sponsored by the Confucius Institute at
the University of Edinburgh booth offering ink, paper and writing brush for
learning Calligraphy which was even more favor and enjoyable by the children.
The Chinese arts and crafts booth sponsored by Phoenix Group attracted large of collector.
