2000 people got together to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year on 9th February, and

enjoyed the China Spring Festival Gala in the Usher Hall. This programme is a part of

Chinese culture and is a ‘must’ for every Chinese New Year.  Mrs. Li Haifeng who is

Republic of China, led the performance delegation and came all the way from China.

The highlight of the delegation is that all performers are at the national top level

with high standard. And some of them are well known to every household, who also cheered

up the overseas Chinese in Edinburgh.  It was the first time for them to come to

Edinburgh. Everyone in the delegation was attracted by the beautiful Edinburgh.

As one of the sponsors, Wangping Travel assisted the China Consulate in Edinburgh to

It is very important to improve culture and business communication between the two

nations.Scotland China Chamber of Commerce will go further to develop the cultural communication

in the future. We believed there should be more activities SCCC would hold in the future.

Thanks to the members of Scotland--China Chamber of Commerce to concern the Chinese culture

and watch the show. The performance delegation promised that they would come to Edinburgh for the

The visiting of Tianjin Government Delegation

On 3rd March, Mr. Cao Guoan, Executive Deputy District Mayor of Hedong District in

Tianjin, represented Tianjin Government to visit Edinburgh with other four Directors who are working in Investment and Cultural Communication department.  The aim of this

trip is to go further and strengthen business, cultural and educational links between

Scotland and Tianjin, China. Since First Minster Alex Salmond visited and signed a partnership agreement with the Tianjin Municipal Government last year, the

relationship between Tianjin and Scotland starts to grow.

This visiting was received a grand welcome from Edinburgh Council at the first day

they visited. It reflects that Edinburgh Government paid more attention to the

cooperation with Tianjin in the aspect of the investment and cultural communication.

The chairman of SCCC, also director of Wangping Travel, Mrs. Song as the event host

in Edinburgh, accompanied Tianjin delegations to attend the meeting with Edinburgh

Council. In the meeting, councillor Jenny Dawe, Leader of the City of Edinburgh

Council officially welcomes the delegation to Edinburgh and also provides a short

welcome and presentation about the City of Edinburgh Council. Later, the delegation

visited HSBC Edinburgh Headquarter in the afternoon.

The visiting Edinburgh of Tianjin delegation expressed a significant meaning of the mutual cooperation between Scotland and Tianjin in the fields of finance and education. Hope both could go further and get a fruitful result due to the further understand. It is a brilliant starting point and indicates that both parties will understand each other more when Edinburgh Council will visit Tianjin at the second half of this year.
