A brief history of the Chamber
In 2009, a number of leading Scottish & Chinese business people met in Edinburgh to celebre Chinese New Year, from this social event, a preliminary agreement to found the Scotland China Chamber of Commerce was proposed, and later of the same year, 1st October 2009, the Scotland China Chamber of Commerce was established under Mrs Jie Song’s leadership. Ever since, the SCCC have brought up the partnership between Tianjin Government and Edinburgh council, mediated several business to business networking between Scottish and Chinese companies, held a wide range of cultural events (e.g. Panda Fever, Edinburgh Festivals) in Edinburgh to foster and enhance friendship, understanding and partnership between the people of Scotland and China.
In order to meet the increasing demands from China and supply a better service to Scottish and Chinese companies, the SCCC established two offices in Beijing and Shanghai, both offices have been playing a pivotal role in the growing influence of the SCCC in china. The partnership was formed between the SCCC and the Nanjing Chamber of Commerce (China) in 2010 after the hard work from the Beijing and Shanghai’s colleagues, the two organisations have been working together on several investment and trade projects ever since. The SCCC are working on the expending of networking, collaboration and partnership with Chinese chambers, e.g. Shanxi Chamber of Commerce, Zhejiang Chamber of Commerce.
The chairman Mrs Jie Song of the SCCC accompanied the Scottish Government Delegation to the visiting of China on several occasions, those visiting have gained huge successful for Scotland industries and bonded a much stronger relationship between Scotland and China, e.g. the trading agreements of salmon, lobster and diary products.
The Second China International Import Expo Exhibition 2013, is organized by China Chamber of International Commerce and Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, will be held in Kunshan of China between 15-18th May 2013. This exhibition will emphatically exhibit foreign technologies and products. The SCCC are authorized as the only organisation in the UK to act on behalf of the organiser to promote/broker the 2013 CIE.

Future works needs to be focused on:
1.      Expanding our networking, exploring and developing collaboration & partnership with Scottish & Chinese Chambers and industry associations or organizations.
2.      Arranging Business visiting & networking events for Scottish & Chinese companies. Creating business match – making opportunities, events, conference & seminars.
3.      Developing Chinese Proposals to Seek Scottish Business. Promoting Scotland to Chinese. Promoting Scotland, e.g. salmon, dairy products, whisky, technology & products of energy sector.
